“I write when I need to write but not every song is meant to be heard and I’ve got loads of growing to do. The songs I do put out there, I want them to reach people in a way they least expect. To put them inside the music right alongside me. To make it possible in those few minutes for them to know they are not alone,” the young artist explained.
Aussie singer/songwriter, Cooper Turnbull has finally debuted his single “Away”.
This new single is one that you should listen to while the artist is working toward an EP scheduled to be released later this year.
This Australian-born musician grew raised in Los Angeles, California, but now calls Sydney home. Cooper is now enrolled at JMC Academy in Ultimo, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Songwriting.
Cooper turns eighteen two days after AWAY’S international release. His music influences include Conan Gray, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo and also Finneas.
“I would love to collab with Finneas one day,” said Cooper. “The indie sound is moving into mainstream pop right now because of these kinds of artists. I think audiences need the depth.”
“I write when I need to write but not every song is meant to be heard and I’ve got loads of growing to do. The songs I do put out there, I want them to reach people in a way they least expect. To put them inside the music right alongside me. To make it possible in those few minutes for them to know they are not alone,” the young artist explained.
As to the future, expect a lot more to come from this emerging talent.
“My goal is to tour the USA, Australia, and beyond. My preference would be in stadiums (!) but if not then in Deborah, my ’89 VW T3 Transporter” said Cooper with a grin.
“Seriously, to be anywhere on the road with my music and with audiences who get something back from it is the dream.”
